DuckBytes Policies |
|
DuckBytes.com is dedicated to providing quality, affordable software solutions
for home, business and Internet applications. All software produced by Bruce
Quackenbush and/or distributed by DuckBytes.com is protected by US and international
copyright laws and contains the necessary copyright notices. No reproduction
or redistribution by any means or for any purposes will be allowed without
the express, written consent of Bruce Quackenbush.
Many of my commonly used web scripts are being distributed as freeware. This means
that you can download them and use them on any website you wish, free of charge.
This will include simple form-to-email, guestbook, counter, search and other scripts.
I am offering these for free because a) they didn't take a lot of time to develop
and b) well, frankly, you can get similar scripts for free lots of places, I'd like
you to use mine because they're better and they'll bring you back to DuckBytes.com
for more.
Other software is distributed as shareware which you will need to register if you
like it and wish to use it beyond the 30 day trial period. I will make every effort
to keep these prices reasonable so I can make a little back on my investment and you
can get the software you need within a limited budget. I, of course, reserve the
right to adjust my prices as the need arises.
Custom programming projects will be quoted according to the complexity involved
and the estimated development time. I will provide a written proposal for your
approval before any work is completed. Any work that becomes necessary that falls
outside the scope of that proposal will be approved by you before undertaken. I don't
believe in surprising the client when I submit my bill! In most cases I will require
a deposit of 50% of the total estimate before beginning work, with the remainder
do upon completion. Any invoice that remains unpaid for more than 30 days will incur
penalty and interest fees as established by law.
Freeware
All software distributed as freeware on this site is provided as-is with no
warranty implied or expressed. You may use this software as you wish with no
restrictions. I would, however, appreciate it if you would refrain from providing
copies to your friends and associates. If everyone downloads their own copy
from this site, I'll be able to track its usage and provide updates as necessary.
There is no charge for the use of freeware products from DuckBytes. If you like
the software, though, a "registration" fee of $10.00 would help to ensure the
continued availability of quality, low cost software on the Internet.
Shareware
Shareware products offered by DuckBytes.com are provided as fully functional,
"finished" programs without disabled features or annoying "nagware" popups so
that you may realistically evaluate their usefulness. This also allows you to
set up a script or program, decide if it meets your needs, and then pay the
registration fee without the need to re-install a registered version.
The trial period for all shareware products from DuckBytes.com is 30 days. If
you wish to continue using it beyond that period you must register it. Any
software not registered within 30 days must be removed from your system.
Registration of DuckBytes software buys you the right to use it on a single
website (or network). Any additional use will require additional registration
fees.

There will never be any banners or popup ads on this site. I personally find such things
annoying in the extreme so I refuse to subject my visitors and customers to them. Enough
said about that.
Spam goes way beyond annoying. It is wasteful of your time and it is incredibly wasteful
of Internet resources. I happen to think that all spammers should be taken around back
and beaten with a stick, but that's me. I give you my solemn oath that I will never, under any circumstances,
sell or transfer any email addresses submitted to this site to any third party. I further
promise that if you say you don't want any emails from me, you won't get any.
